temporary post...

HELPPPPPP!!!!!!

Basically, I'm trying to rearrange my living room. Ike keeps taking the CDs off the big CD rack and almost pulling the thing over on himself. So I need to put it somewhere it's unlikely to tip over/somewhere hard for a baby to get to. I've moved it right across the room into a corner, but a) it restricts access to my DVDs and b) it's in front of a pluggy inny place.
So, Here's my living room from 3 different angles:
So yeah, does anyone have any idea where things should go?

List of important furniture that needs to be in places:
CD rack,
Mildred the sofa (the ugly one).
Sammy the sofa (the sexy one).
Black coffee table thing.

Ideas would be appreciated!

With the CD rack, why not try having it horizontal instead of vertical? If it's lying on the floor, Ike won't be able to pull it on top of himself. And it'll be very different, and easier to reach higher CDs. You could stick it in the further end of the room, and place the couch Mildred in front of it. Sammy the Sofa might look nicer facing the TV, a sort of comfort zone. I quite like the coffee table thing where it is, but I guess you could move it around and see where you like it :P

That would be a really awesome ideas, but Mildred doesn't fit where Sammy is because she's bigger and because of the door and stuff... and I'm pretty sure the cd thing is longer than Mildred... So I don't think it'd really work. =[
Thanks anyway though!=]

Hmm... The best option I've worked out for you is either to mount the CD rack on the wall [your landlord might not like that], or move it out of the room... With Ike, it's going to be hard to stop him from removing the disks... Another option is to have it in the corner near your TV- with the cables and stuff there, it'll be hard for him to get to it, there's roughly enough room for it... It just means that your cupboard might not be openyy, due to the CD rack being there. However, It stops the problem you told me he used to have at one point... He used to try to open that cupboard, right?
...
With that second option, it means that your room is roughly the same, so you've still got all the room that you currently have, and there's very little extra movement to go from the stairs to the kitchen to do- my first option had a sofa in the way.
Anyhooow... Those are my ideas for you until I have time to measure your furniture and work out a plan using the IKEA software I've got on my 'puter... Can make a digital version of your room, measurements and all, and work it out with little effort....

lol he's never tried to open that cupboard! :P and I kinda need to open that cupboard on a regular basis as that's where the gas and electricity things are! =/

that sounds like epic software!

I may have to resort to putting it in the degu room. =[

Can you put holes in the wall? (it's always easy to cover them up later)

If you can, the best thing would be to put it up on a wall somewhere.
Or you could get some braces from a hardware store and secure it to the wall so it can't tip over. This wouldn't stop Ike from pulling things off it, or stop him from trying to climb up it, but would be better than nothing.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I solved my problem by moving it to another room. =]
